Welcome to my writer website.
I’m a professional freelance writer with over 10 years of experience in consumer and trade writing in the areas of international travel, sustainable design & technology, business and education from some temporary home-sweet-home around the world.
- Travel: Over a decade of slow traveling and living around the world has given me firsthand knowledge of over 30 countries on 4 continents. My insider travel advice and destination pieces can be found in publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, ShermansTravel.com, easyJet’s Traveller inflight, USA Today, Transitions Abroad, Travelhoppers.com, EuropeUpClose.com and Luxair’s Flydoscope inflight to name a few. I’ve also written a guidebook on Prague (my home for 5 years) for Nord Anglia. I share my ideas and advice for unique, alternative and low cost travel on my travel blog, Tread Lightly, Travel Naturally.
- Sustainable Design & Technology: For over 6 years, I’ve been reporting on the latest techniques and trends in sustainable building and design from around the world for publications like Slate, Trulia.com, Green Building + Design, Green Builder, The Whole Life Times, Stylus.com, Green Futures (Forum for the Future), Green Business Quarterly and The Prague Post.
- Business: Aside from 2 years as a staff reporter at a business journal in Texas, I’ve interviewed hundreds of CEOs, executives, small business owners and business leaders for articles in Slate, IDG Connect, Profile, Hispanic Executive, Asian Fortune and Knowledge@Wharton (journal of the Wharton School of Business).
- Education: I’m proud to be a regular contributor to CreativeLive.com, the world’s largest live streaming education website. Back in the day, I worked as a private tutor to help students prepare for the SAT and ACT (US college entrance exams), and this allowed me to share my memorable experiences and hard-earned wisdom with the teen audience of SparkNotes.com’s Test Prep Tutor blog and of several magazines aimed at high school and college students and their parents.
